Compared to other industries, test processes in the automotive industry consist of a set of test solutions that are very evident on the production line. The target in this industry is 0 parts per million faulty. For this reason, great importance is attached to test organization in production.
For example, when the assembly process of electronic circuits is completed, the first test applied is the in-circuit test. This step includes the task of programming the microcontroller as well as the memory embedded in the relevant device to guarantee the availability of the appropriate code. In most cases these two processes are integrated into the same system.
The next stage is the functional tests carried out before the product is fully assembled with all its parts, including the mechanical ones. Here, the conformity of the product to the defined operational standards is to be evaluated.
After the product is completely assembled, it is subjected to some tests. At this stage, which is generally defined as the end of the line, the product is evaluated in its final configuration.
